Governance: Citizenship & Advocacy

The Governance: Citizenship & Advocacy Programme aspires to create a system of development collectives, held together by enabled youth and adult volunteers from the community. Designed to break intergenerational marginalisation, the Programme stands on four essential pillars, Self-Awareness, Social Awareness, Critical Thinking and Collective Action. It empowers community adolescents and youth to understand Self in relation to the society, one’s role as a Citizen and importance of a Collective in demanding rightful entitlements. The Programme supports change-making processes contributing to:

  • Understanding and acknowledging challenges faced by the community
  • Taking ownership and responsibility towards mobilisation of community resources
  • Collaborating with civil society and government institutions to ensure access to basic amenities and opportunities
